This page will hold information about Digital Reporters (including arrangements for Training)
Training young people as digital reporters and to create web pages/new media social networks : Steve aims to hold a training session on 19th April to train a group of 4-6 young digital reporters in time for April 26th event. Intention is for them to use easily available media technology to capture the views of other young people about the events being held, eg. football, urban art, street theatre, performance arts, djing etc also to identify what additional leisure activities are of interest.
- An additional aim as we progress is to train young people to edit material for the EdenMedia website - http://www.edenmedia.org.uk
- More young people can be recruited as time goes on. To do - Contact Connexions plus any other organisation in Eden working with young people to invite participation
First Training Session
- Dawn has spoken to Mara and Gareth at Young Cumbria
- Anna to contact Mara to explain project in more detail, discuss venue and equipment needs and book PCs at The Foyer for 19th April for 2 hours (eg. between 2.00 - 4.00pm).
- Positive response as below
...thank you for your comprehensive email - It sounds wonderful and my gut reaction is what a really great opportunity. We have a youth worker on the team who runs our digital arts programme. Andy Murray has a group of young people that would benefit from these opportunities and i shall be speaking to him on Tuesday morning. i wouldn't worry too much about the time frame, The young people are attending and we can use our new offices. We also have access to an office in the library.
We will do everything that we can to facilitate this and i shall speak to you on Tuesday.
have a nice weekend.
With thanks,
Mara Krukowski.

Really good inspiring meeting at Young Cumbria offices: Richard, David, Andy, Dawn, Steve and Anna.
Actions as follows:
digital reporters agreed to interview other young people and capture their views about the skateboard park events on 26th April; agreed also to edit digital material and upload to Eden media website (with help from Steve - and Andy after return from Gambia)
Steve - provide online support re interview approaches (Andy has already done some training in this respect) using 'Engaging Eden' google group and also verbally before the event
Consent forms needed to make sure those filmed and appearing on Eden Media have given their consent - Anna to print
Dawn - produce Eden Media - www.edenmedia.org.uk - ID tags for digital reporters and others involved during skateboard park event.
Anna/allAdd explanatory content to Eden media pages
Dawn - provide question framework using 'Engaging Eden' google group. Hard copy questionnaires will be distributed during the event and on-line questionnaire will be set up by Delib (Gez) and can be accessed via Eden Council's Consultation Finder Database. This will allow young people to submit their views online
A young person needs to be filmed using Consultation Finder and accessing the online survey. This should be uploaded to Eden Media asap with text/audio describing how to go through the process.
Steve - set up a Social Network on Eden Media which will allow young people to provide their views on the skateboard park events. Anna and Steve to moderate.
Dawn - produce cards with the Eden media website address to hand out during the conference. Hopefully this will draw young people to the Eden Media site
Press - Dawn/Anna inform local newspapers, radio and tv about Eden Media. Should help spread the word further.
New media material - to be placed online on Eden Media website within 24 hours of the Skateboard Park Events - Steve will upload what he can at the event using his modem
Editing work will be ongoing as more new media material is added
